Valeria's Archive

Valeria Araujo has an English M.A. from Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU). Her studies focused on Latinx literature and research into Caribbean history, more specifically into the literary/historical depictions of Hispaniola and the cultural evolution of the island through Colonialism and beyond. She also obtained her English B.A. from SCSU with a concentration in creative writing and a minor in journalism in the Fall of 2022. During her undergraduate years, she served as the Editor-in-Chief of the SPJ award-winning student publication, Crescent Magazine, and was published in SCSU’s Folio Literary Magazine twice. She is also a former Gwen Ifill Investigative News Intern. During her time at the CT Public newsroom, she published an investigation into the lack of faculty diversity in CT higher education.

Currently, she is teaching at CAB St. Augustine Academy. She is also writing a novel based on her hometown of Milford.
